Obituary
Passed on
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wray Reginald Jensen, a dedicated Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. Surrounded by loved ones, Wray died peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, in Winnipeg. He was 83. Wray was born on December 15, 1934, to Reidar and Dolly Jensen at the Inwood Hotel. Following his father’s service overseas during the War, the family moved to a farm near Argyle, Manitoba, where Wray finished his schooling in Grade 11. After finishing high school, Wray did a short stint as a teacher in the Inwood School. Following this, he moved to Saskatchewan where he trained as a Psychiatric nurse, afterwards joining the Air Force as a pilot and instructor. Wray met Shirley at an Argyle dance and they wed on May 19, 1956. While Wray was in the Air Force, they lived in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, where their first daughter, Jacqueline, was born. The small family then moved to an Air Force base in France, where Patricia and Christina were born. Following their time in France, they returned to Canada to live in Vancouver, where Peter was born, and then moved on to Winnipeg. After leaving the Air Force, Wray joined Air Canada as a pilot, where he continued to work until his retirement in 1994. Over the years he flew the DC9, 727 and 767. In 1975, the family moved to Stonewall, where Wray became an active participant in both the community and Catholic Church. Many in the community knew Wray for his good works and active lifestyle, often spotted on his red bike everyday. Wray and Shirley were world travellers, and enjoyed the arrival of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wray will be warmly remembered as a generous and witty individual who loved being outdoors. He was passionate about maintaining an active lifestyle and was a dedicated member of his Church. A true Jensen, Wray lived his life on his own terms. He had strong opinions on how things should be done and voiced them openly. Wray leaves us with a wealth of memories and hearts full of love. Wray leaves behind his children, Jacqueline, Patricia, Christina (Daniel), and Peter (Deborah); his grandchildren, Riley, Tayler, Avery, Jeffrey (Amanda), Myles, Tristan, Jessie (Bill), Braydon, Justin (Megan) and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren Nikki, Ryder, Ellis, Owen, and Liam; and his sister Audrey (Nick) Lebedeff.
