Ken Loehmer started in the funeral industry at the young age of 18, fresh out of high school – washing cars and doing general maintenance around the funeral home.
The owner of the funeral home saw something special in Ken and offered him full time employment in the fall. After receiving his funeral licence in 1981 he gained experience in every aspect of the business. When the owner of the funeral home passed away, Ken stepped up and managed the company for 14 years.
Ken is a small town boy, growing up on the farm in Balmoral and moving to his current home in the early 1990’s. He loves that his home is central in the Interlake and he can be in Stonewall or Teulon in equal time. His family has grown to include his wife Darci and two daughters Ella and Alexa. He loves being able to spend time with his family and be in the garden.
The time has come for Ken to finally operate his own funeral business and bring his 35 years of experience to the Interlake families he has always served. The funeral industry has changed in the past 35 years and Ken has grown with it. He can take care of a simple cremation with no service to a large service with 1000 in attendance. With all of his years of experience he has seen it all, including every denomination and faith. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer with the Funeral Board of Manitoba and can practice anywhere in the province. He has chosen not to open a chapel at this time. In all our communities there are ample spaces from halls to churches that would appreciate their facilities being utilized.
It is a special person who chooses to become a funeral director. Ken has all those qualities. He brings a calmness and sincerity to every aspect of his job. He takes great pride in his attention to detail. He knows this business inside and out and can walk you through this difficult process. To Ken, it is a great honour being able to help families during such a difficult time. It is Ken’s belief that the funeral industry is not a death industry but a celebration of life industry.
