Nicholas Hugh Palmer

Passed on

December 2006 – May 21 2025

Accidentally on May 21st we tragically lost our Nicholas.

Nicholas, how can you summarize a life that had only really just begun.  You were destined to be a strong figure in this world.  When your light dimmed the world lost out on you, you who I know would have done so many things to make this world a better place.  I would often sit and wonder what amazing things you would accomplish, the places you would travel to and the many people you would touch along the way.  Nicholas had heart, the biggest and brightest heart of anyone I will ever know.  He was so incredibly compassionate and empathetic towards others.  He was brave.  He was selfless.  He felt things with his whole being and with such passion.

He lived life so passionately!  He was not afraid.  He would speak his truth and the truth that he felt needed to be told for others who could not.  This was his passion!  He met his people at the University of Manitoba and was so incredibly happy there.  He loved having the most in depth, truly meaningful conversations that really mattered with the people he cared so much for.  In losing him we have lost forever a big piece of ourselves.  He was a fire that burned so bright.  He touched the hearts of so many people, even more than we will ever know.   Our history loving, political, standing for what is right, family loving, animal loving, nature loving, living with his entire heart son will be forever missed.

He got to work his dream job for Parks Canada at Lower Fort Garry and never for a moment felt that it was work.  He loved talking about and sharing his knowledge of history all day long with others.  Every person who met Nicholas is better for having known such an incredible person.  All who crossed his path were drawn to him.  We will miss sharing new foods and restaurants with you, visiting new places, and having conversations everyday that really mattered.

Your mom and dad Shirley and Iain, and your sisters Sydney and Caris miss you so very much!  You have left a hole in so many.  We are forever broken.  You are our one and only Nicholas.  You are forever in our hearts.  you are our inspiration.

A celebration of Nicholas’ life will take place on June 14th at 11:00 am at College Stonewall Collegiate in Stonewall.

All are welcome to attend who were touched by Nicholas
