Edward Stanley Debeuckelaere
Obituary
Passed on
March 2, 1944 – January 23, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ed Debeuckelaere aged 81 years, on January 23, 2026 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Veldine; children, Sean (Darcy), Tricia, Jay (Sarah); grandson’s, Kolby, Vaughn; sister-in-laws Iris (Clyde), Heather; nephews, Jason (Nicole), Kristian, Cameron, Jordan as well as extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gerard and Yvonne (nee Petillion) Debeuckelaere, sister Donna, in-laws George and Helen (nee Nieman) Williams and brother-in-law Dennis Williams.
Ed grew up in Ste. Rose du Lac and moved to Winnipeg to attend Red River College completing the Autobody and Collision Repair program in 1963. His career involved completing his apprenticeship and working in various autobody shops until 1973 when he joined the staff at Red River College as an Instructor in Autobody and Collision Repair. He worked there for 31 years mentoring many young technicians in the autobody and I-CAR programs. He was very well respected in the industry, enjoyed meeting new people and he couldn’t go anywhere without meeting someone he knew from the industry and talking with them.
Ed and Vel married and moved to Warren in 1975, raised their family and established deep community roots. Ed immediately became involved in the community through curling, becoming a scout leader, joining the Warren Hall Board and Warren United Church. He also operated a small autobody and towing business outside of Warren.
Ed loved the great outdoors, winter camping, going to the trailer in the summer at Spruce Sands and traveling to his favorite winter get-away in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and of course cruising to see many new sites.
Ed had a heart of gold and was very dedicated to his family, friends and community and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at the Warren United Church, 232 MacDonald Avenue, Warren, MB with a lunch to follow at the Warren Memorial Hall, 145 MacDonald Avenue, Warren, MB.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Ed to the Warren United Church, Box 324, Warren, MB, R0C 3E0 or a charity of your choice.
