Passed on
Peacefully after a lengthy illness, Gary passed away September 12, 2026.
Left to mourn his passing: spouse Katharine; children Andrew (Tarrah), Adam (Torey), Crystal; grandchildren Reghan, Ryder, Aidan, Carson, and Brody. Sisters Karen and Sandra, sisters- in- law Brenda and Susan (Michael) and brother-in-law Bruce (Lynn). Nieces and nephews Tiffany (Dwight), Ryan, Sarah (Chad), Clint, Trey and Emma.
Predeceased by his mother Edna and father Harvey, brothers Kim and Randy, sister Susan and brother-in-law Ron.
Gary was born on December 02, 1953 and lived his life in Stonewall, MB. Educated in Stonewall, he left school after Grade 10 to join his father in the trucking business. He then moved on to the tow truck business and then opened the local sporting goods store.
His love for the trucking business led him to General Truck / Western Star and eventually to Beaver Volvo Trucks for many years. He loved every aspect of the business while accumulating many awards and perks that came along.
Gary also loved sports, his favourites were racing, hockey and golf. He had a race car team and raced at the Winnipeg Speedway for many years. He turned his focus to hockey, his love of the game made him realize he also loved teaching the game. Once his boys started to play, he started coaching and went on the coach AA and AAA teams in the Interlake and Winnipeg. He served on the board of Interlake Minor Hockey. Gary also enjoyed playing golf with friends and family.
We would like to extend our gratitude to all the exceptional doctors, nurses and staff at the Stonewall Hospital for their care that was given to Gary during his stay.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Stonewall Hospital Foundation.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 24th, 2026 in Stonewall at the Parochial Hall from 6-9pm.
