 It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Alex Chrapchynski, aged 89 years, on October 1, 2026, at Betel Personal Care Home in Selkirk, Manitoba.

Alex was born on October 7, 1936, at Teulon Hospital in Manitoba. He grew up on a mixed farm in the Dennis Lake area and attended school in the North Polson School District.

At the age of 19, Alex left home in search of work. He was hired by a mining construction company in Ontario, where he worked for approximately two and a half years before returning to Winnipeg. He then worked at the paper mill in Winnipeg for many years.

On October 19, 1968, Alex married Pauline Zelisney, and together they moved to Teulon, Manitoba, where they began farming. In 1993, their paths went in different directions. Following his retirement, Alex settled in Selkirk, where he enjoyed the next chapter of his life and met his best friend, Brenda.

Alex will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Mary Anne Blahey (Wayne); grandchildren, Pamela (Dave) and Stuart (Candace); great-grandchildren, Jonathan (Sara), Ashton, and Elayna; great-great-granddaughter, Riley; and his daughter, Anna Marie Vesna, and her family.

He is also survived by his brother, John (Eva); nephews Dave (Betty), Kevin, and Wesley, and their families; his brother, Edward (Vivian); and nieces Christa (Mike) and Susan (Mike), and nephew Darryl (Peanut), and their families.

Alex was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Jean; his brother, James; two nephews; Pauline; and his son, Paul.

Alex will be remembered for his hardworking nature and the life he built through many years of work and farming. Most of all, he will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends.

Music was an important part of Alex’s life. He especially enjoyed playing the fiddle, and his love of music brought him much happiness throughout the years.

Alex will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at Teulon – Rockwood Hall with lunch to follow. Interment to follow in Windsor Cemetery, Teulon, Manitoba.
