With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our brother, Stephen Pritchard, at his home in Stonewall. Steve was born in Brandon on September 11, 1958. Left to hold the memories that only siblings share are: Cam (Ocean) of Winnipeg, Paul (Faith) of Thompson, Dennis (Sandy) of Saskatoon, Charlie of Calgary, and Margaret (Dean) Ward of Stonewall. Our Mom (Angela) and our Dad (Murray), who left us in 2010 and 2015, undoubtedly stretched out their loving arms to once again embrace their third-born son. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be arranged at a later date. If you knew Steve, you knew he had a playful heart, a quick wit, and a deep love for family and friends, but you also knew that life was difficult at times. We will take comfort in knowing that the difficult times are over for you, Steve, and we will hold onto our memories of happier times. Rest in peace, Brother.

Peacefully, with her two boys sitting faithfully by her side, Ivy Edwards (Mum, Nanny, Great-Nanny) passed away at Stonewall Hospital in Stonewall, Manitoba on April 18th, 2018, just two weeks past her 104th birthday. Ivy is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Daryl (Val) and Larry (Joyce), grandchildren Michael, Dawn (Ron), Murray (Erin), Joel (Julie), Lani (Ben), Kara (Troy), Cory (Kathryn), Scott (Kristen) and Codi (Ian), and 22 great-grandchildren, cousin Shirley Lockhart and family, and numerous friends, including Cycelia Lazarowich and Muriel Lillies. She is predeceased by her parents, Archie and Mary Billings, her husband Cecil, and special friend, Donna Jensen. Ivy was born on March 30th, 1914, in Stonewall, where she lived all of her long, full life. She was the only child of Archie and Mary, who passed away in 1969 and 1949 respectively. She married the love of her life, Cecil, in 1942, and they raised their two boys while Cec worked for Land Titles in Winnipeg. Ivy also worked for Manitoba Telephone System at various times throughout her life. Shortly after Cec passed away in 1972, grandchildren began to pop into existence, and Ivy began her new role as “Nanny”, a title that she wore devotedly for the rest of her life. She moved into Stonewall Lions Manor in 1989, where she enjoyed the company of many friends. Per Ivy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Instead, her family will celebrate her long life and cherish their memories of her daunting spirit at a private celebration in the summer. Flowers are gratefully declined; if anyone so desires, please make a donation to a charity of their choice in her name. At this time, the family wishes to thank Dr. Pinniger for his professional and dedicated care of Ivy’s health over many years, as well as the many nurses and committed staff at Stonewall Hospital during her last few days. We would also like to acknowledge Michelle Loehmer and the compassionate home care staff working out of Lions Manor for looking after Ivy for many years. Rest well, Mum, Nanny, Great-Nanny. After a brief illness, on April 16, 2018, our dear sister and auntie peacefully passed away at Lion’s Manor Personal Care Center. Ollie will be lovingly remembered by her sister Sophie Melnychuk (Norrie Macdonald), sister-in-law Theresa (Cliff) Capuska, niece Barb Melnychuk (Peter Mingo), and nephews Brad (Sylvie) Melnychuk, Ron (Karen) Melnychuk, and Doug (Teresa) Melnychuk, as well as great nieces and great nephews Melissa (Chris) Hornby, Amie Melnychuk (Paul Skinner), Michael Melnychuk (Kathleen Hudyma), Magdalena Melnychuk, Stewart (Christina) Geers, great-great nieces Natalie, Maelle and Rebecca and great-great nephews Felix, Dale and Sawyer, as well as cousins and friends. Ollie was predeceased by her parents Paul and Annie Melnychuk, her brother Zenon Melnychuk and special friend Bill Kane. Ollie was born in Winnipeg and grew up on a small farm near Balmoral, Manitoba, the eldest of three children. She attended school in Balmoral, completing grade 11. At the tender age of 17, Ollie moved to Winnipeg to continue her education. Upon completion of her coursework, she began her career doing administrative and financial work at various companies before joining Air Canada in 1967, where she remained until her retirement in 1993. Ollie enjoyed ‘downtown living’ and resided in the Broadway area for most of her adult life. She walked to and from work, taking pleasurable detours through Eaton’s, The Bay and other downtown establishments to shop for classy clothes and jewelry at good prices. In quiet times, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting at home. Some of her work was exhibited at local fairs. Many family members have at least one hand made afghan to remember her by. Ollie enjoyed many travel opportunities both near and far. She visited places like England, Scotland, Ireland, Greece, California, Texas, Florida, British Columbia and more, including a special trip to Prince Edward Island with her mother, Annie. Ollie also enjoyed road trips. She and Bill would travel all over Manitoba and beyond, enjoying coffee and meal breaks at local restaurants along the way. Ollie loved to dance. Weekends would find her at dance halls around the city, enjoying the music and the company of friends. Passionate about her privacy, a quiet manner, and always a “lady”, Ollie will be missed. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 1:30 at Balmoral Hall, Balmoral, Manitoba, followed by a lunch. Interment will follow at Victoria Cemetery, near Balmoral. We would also like to express gratitude to the staff on the 4th floor of Lion’s Personal Care Center for their care and compassion during the last few months of Ollie’s life. (nee Potter) 1937 – 2018     At the age of 81 Toni passed away in her sleep on April 15, at Grace Hospital, with her family by her side. Toni is survived by her husband Beint (Ben) of 59 years and her children Pierre (Donna), Belinda, Julie (Glenn), Diana (Dennis), Tim (Shelly) and Marlene. Also her grandchildren Jennifer, Alexis (Mark), Stephanie, Mitchel, Sherri, Patsy, Michelle, Jackie, Justin and Meghan. Survived by her brothers John (Jeanne) and Cees (Joan). Toni was predeceased by her parents Theodore and Bregitta Potter, brothers Nick, Jack and sister Tini. Born in the Netherlands in 1937. Moved to Canada in 1952. In 1970 Toni and Ben built a farm in Balmoral, MB where they raised sheep. They retired to Stonewall in 1992. Toni enjoyed baking, needle point, stamp collecting and puzzling. She loved the company of her children and grandchildren. Thanks to all the nurses and doctors at the ICU at Grace Hospital, also all the staff at Stonewall Hospital. Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church Stonewall (315 – 2nd St. East) open to everyone. A private service will be held for the family. Dec. 3, 1957 – April 14, 2018 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kim Foulds aged 60 years of Argyle, MB. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Stonewall Hospital. Survived by her loving husband Ross, brother Dan, brother-in-law Rae (Barb), sister-in-law Bev (Bob) Agar and 2 nieces and 3 nephews. Kim was predeceased by her parents Archie and Alda Simons in 1992, mother-in-law and father-in-law Betty and Wilfred Foulds in 2000, sister-in-law Ann in 2016. Kim worked at Canada Packers, Holiday Haven Nursing Home and later provided Homecare for people in the area before her illness. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening and doing petty point. The family would like to thank the Drs., Nurses and staff at the Stonewall Hospital for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A family interment will take place at a later date. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to Stonewall Hospital.

April 4, 1951 – April 7, 2018    Suddenly on Saturday, April 7, 2018 David Shewchuk aged 67 years of Arborg, MB. passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. Predeceased by his mother Dorothy, father Steve, brother Donald and brother-in-law Dennis. Survived by sisters Gloria Melnyk, Valerie (Tim) Shewchuk; nephew Danny (Tracy); nieces Darolyne (Ian), Denise (Duncan), Belinda; great niece Shaylyn. David retired early due to ill health, but still enjoyed working on his house and going to his farm in Fisher Branch. David was an avid gardener and excellent photographer. It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of our dear Sister and Auntie, Darlene Edna Smaldon at Goodwin Lodge on April 5, 2018, at the age of 64. Darlene was born in Teulon, MB, and lived in Gunton for most of her life. She had a love for nature, especially flowers and birds, always anticipating the arrival of the hummingbirds. She is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters, George (Adeline), Leonard, Bryan (Liz), Valerie, Gerald, Heather (Garry), and Karen (Greg). She was “Deedee” to her nieces and nephews, Lenore (Kris), Bill, Aaron (Erin-Brie), Michelle (Demetri), Brent (Shianne), Scott, Cory (Danielle), Kyle and Ashley (Corey), her great-nieces and nephews Max, Chase, Finley, Helena and Grayson. Lifelong friends Terry and Marian. She was predeceased by her parents William (Billy) and Edna, brother-in-law Leonard and grandparents. We would like to thank Dr. Loudon and the staff at Goodwin Lodge for their kindness and care given to Darlene and her family. April 12, 1923 – March 31, 2018            Peacefully, with family by her side, Mary passed away at the age of 94 years at the Arborg Personal Care Home. Born April 12, 1923 in Ukraine, she was the eldest of 3 children born to Mike and Nellie Zwarych. She immigrated to Canada by boat with her family at the age of 6. She left home at an early age, completing a business course and worked in Winnipeg. Mary loved music and dancing and while attending a wedding celebration, met Ned, the love of her life. It was an instant mutual attraction and within a few months they were married on October 14, 1943. They continued to enjoy dancing throughout their life together. They loved entertaining visitors and playing cards with friends. Mary was always known as a hard worker, excellent cook, a generous lady, and devoted to her family. Above all, she was a spiritual person. Her love for God and neighbour compelled her to share precious Bible truths with others concerning the hope of a better future under God’s kingdom where life will be free of suffering, sorrow, sickness and death, as promised in Revelation 21: 3,4. Ned and Mary raised 3 children; Judy (Dennis), Jerry (Brenda), Jeff (Peggy). She was a loving grandmother and great grandmother to Chris (Cayna-Lee) Marcus and Lauren; Chad, Connor and Delaney; Racquel, Stephanie and Kaitlyn; Ninette (Kent); Richanda (Chris) Brynley; and Natalie. We wish to thank all the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home for their care and compassion shown to mom during her stay of 12 ½ years. Thank you also to those who visited and supported her through her long journey battling Alzheimer’s. In accordance with Mary’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date. It is with deep sorrow, the family is saddened to announce that Gordon passed away on March 17, 2018 after a courageous fight with cancer. Gordon is survived by his loving wife Sue; his children Michael (Marni) granddaughter Morgan, and Darryl (Renee) grandsons Alton, Copper and Ethan (and his mother Megan). Sisters Grace (Bob) Stein, Shirley (Cyril) Irwin, and brothers Ronald (Joy) Langrell and Harold Langrell. Gordon was very fond of his nieces and nephews as well as his sisters and brothers-in-law on the Kotelko side. He is also remembered and loved by Sue’s family, mother Elsie Becker, brothers Carl, John (Donna) and Rob (Sharon) and children Lisa (Blake) Legault, Matt (Melanie) Janzen, Sheila (Steven) Smart and grandchildren. Gordon was predeceased by his loving parents Victor and Edna Langrell and wife Myra (nee Kotelko). Gordon grew up in the Woodlands area attending Woodlands Elementary and Warren Collegiate. He remained in Woodlands farming, working and raising his family over the years. He loved hunting, fishing, curling and traveling. His favourite pastime was visiting with friends and family. The funeral service was held at the Stonewall Legion on Thursday, March 22 at 2 p.m. Interment was held earlier at 11 a.m. at Meadow Lea Cemetery. September 12, 1929 – March 15, 2018      Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, Dad passed away March 15, 2018 at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years Ruth (Kennedy), sons Ken (Brenda) and Bob (Kim) and grandchildren Kent, Brandon and Kaleigh. Dad was preceded by grandson Jonathan, sisters Zelma, Jean and brothers Ed, Harvey, Mervin, George and Mel. Dad was born in Portage la Prairie, MB. He and Ruth were married in August,1956 and settled in Stonewall. There he worked for North American Lumber and Texaco Bulk Fuels for several years. In 1968 he began a 23 year career as a corrections officer at Stony Mountain Institution. Dad enjoyed telling stories of growing up and of the many people he had worked with and met over his 88 years. In 1969 the family moved to Teulon to live on the Kennedy farm. He enjoyed having a small farm where he had a variety of livestock. In later years he was particularly proud of his large garden and beautifully manicured yard. Dad and Mom enjoyed many trips to BC and California to visit family and friends. Dad loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. It was important for him to know what they were doing and what projects they had on the go at any given time. The family would like to thank Dr. Loudon and the wonderful staff at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion towards Dad. A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Gunton – Greenwood Community Hall, Gunton, MB.
