Donald Henry Feakes
Obituary
Passed on
Feb. 10, 1951 – Jan.10, 2026
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and hero. After a brave battle with cancer, Don passed peacefully with his family at his side.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Eva Feakes. He is survived by his wife, Lorna, of 49 years, his daughters Jaime (Travis) Williams and Ashley (Ryan) Monforton, his grandchildren Kade, Brynn, Adree, Whitley and Kennley, his six siblings, as well as many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, teammates and dear friends.
Don grew up in Plum Coulee, Manitoba, where he spent his childhood playing baseball, hockey, and laughing his way into trouble. As a teen, Don picked up his dad’s guitar for the first time and never put it down. In 1971, he fell for a shy, sweet singing brunette who just happened to be his best friend’s little sister. Five years later, Don and Lorna were married and never stopped making beautiful music together. They bought their first home in Stonewall in 1978 where they raised their two girls.
Don had a passion for game of baseball that followed him through his whole life. Whether it was playing slo pitch, coaching his girls, watching his granddaughters play, and everything in between. He also proudly played for Ichabods Senior team for about ten years…..still showing off his trademark “behind-the-back” catches on shortstop.
Don’s greatest pride were his girls and his grandkids. Sharing his love for music and ball with them gave him the most joy in life. He also had an incredible gift of making people laugh. Everyone will remember Don for his quick wit, sense of humour, and infectious laughter. He managed to make us laugh even in his last moments.
Don, we miss you already. We love you immensely. Until we meet again, watch for kooks.
Na yo dann, zividi.
The family would like to thank Sharon and the incredible staff and palliative care teams in the Stonewall and Selkirk hospitals.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 1:30 pm at The Royal Canadian Legion, Stonewall, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stonewall Palliative Care program.

I grew up in Plum Coulee with Donnie. Same age, same grade, same ball teams, close friends all through school. Our lives diverged and our contacts were few in our adult lives. I remembered our great fun together many times and I hoped to run into Don every time I stopped in at our old home town. A school reunion many years ago brought us together for a great day of memory sharing and laughter. I am so sorry for your loss Lorna. and family.

Lorna and I grew up together in Horndean and I was along for the ride when she and Don first started seeing each other. The bond was there from the beginning. What a great and crazy time we all had! Don could always be counted on to keep us in stitches and when I caught up with them years later that hadn't changed a bit! My heart goes out to Lorna and their daughters. Don was one of the good ones.

Dear Lorna, Jaime, Ashley and family, sending our heartfelt Condolences to you all. Don was just a great guy, had many good times at the lake. There was nothing better than getting together and You Lorna and Don would entertain with your beautiful singing. It just didn't get any better than that. Our hearts go out to you all. Hugs, Ed & Anne.

So many years have gone by yet it seems like only days that we enjoyed sharing summer fires, days at the cottage, many parties, weddings and birthdays. There is a deep emptiness in our hearts where our dear friend Don filled with his great laugh, fun stories and unmatched sense of humour. No one will make our faces hurt so much from all the laughter and good times we shared. It was a great honour to have you as our friend. Love Earl and Vicky.

My sincere condolences Lorna and family. Don was an amazing person and one of my favourite slow pitch team mates. His sense of humour, welcoming personality were exceptional. His short stop abilities were often the factor that gave us a win. He will be truly missed. Sending love your way. Christy

Lorna and family, I am so sorry to hear this sad news. He was an incredible example of age is just a number. He stayed active and often out played people half his age. I can’t count how many times I was impressed by his baseball abilities never mind his positive personality and great sense of humour.Sending love to all of you at this difficult time.
