Albert Lorne Lavallee (LAV)

Albert Lorne Lavallee (LAV)

Passed on March 7, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lorne Lavallee (LAV) at home on March 7, 2024 at the age of 58. Left to cherish Lorne’s memory are his wife Louise of 28 years, their children Jared and Jodi. Brothers Wayne (Yvette), Don (Leigh), sister Shirley, nephews and nieces. Also mourning his passing are mother in law Winona Shupenia, sisters in law Marlene (Dennis), Donna (Steve).

Lorne was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth (1976), father Albert (2002), brother Dale (2004) and father in law Bill (2015).

Lorne was born in Eriksdale, MB. May 28, 1965. His family moved to Teulon in 1976 where he continued elementary & attended Teulon Collegiate where he made many lifelong friends. Lorne worked at various jobs as a teenager before starting his career in 1986 at CN as a ballast inspector working in Saskatchewan and Ontario before transferring over to the running trades. Lorne (LAV) was a Conductor/Brakeman from 1987-1995 before qualifying as a Locomotive Engineer, retiring in September 2020.

Lorne enjoyed baseball, hockey, snowmobiling, quading, camping, fishing, hunting & golfing. He was a true outdoorsman, he played minor hockey for Eriksdale and was a member of the North Interlake Kings hockey team that went to Sweden in 1980/81 at Age 15. He then proceeded to junior hockey in Lloydminster, AB and Obema, SK before returning to Teulon to play senior hockey with the Teulon Tigers. Lorne and Louise played mixed slo-pitch with the Daltons for over 20 years. He played men’s league A-ball with the Jammers and played in National tournaments. He also played hockey with the Heavy Metal & Gillam Rails.

Lorne loved his children Jared & Jodi unconditionally and was extremely proud of their accomplishments. He always welcomed their friends into our home with open arms and enjoyed spending time getting to know each one. This was a tradition passed on from having many of our family and friends stay with us over the years, known as L & L Lodge.

The family enjoyed 17 years at Lilac Resort where Lorne formed many lasting friendships.

Lorne had a great love for animals, enjoyed country music and would give the shirt off his back. He truly wore his heart on his sleeve and will be missed by many.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 am at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery 4535 Main St, West Saint Paul.

Thank you to Dr. Basali for Lorne’s care over the years and first responders for their assistance and comfort at the time of his loss. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Winnipeg Humane Society or Rescue Dogs.

My sincerest condolences to Louise and family... a great guy gone too soon. A star athlete who excelled in every sport. A natural ability not many share. I think what I saw in him best, was how fiercely loyal Lorne was to his family and friends he cared about. A very admiral character trait. He will missed by us all. R.I.P. "Young Fella"
