Reginald Richard Main

May 6, 1944 – January 20, 2019 Peacefully and quietly, as he lived his life, Reg passed “gently into the night” at home early Sunday morning. Reg was the 3rd born and 2nd son of Bob and Marj Main. He grew up on the family farm in Balmoral, spent some time in the city, but returned with his wife to the place so dear to his heart, where he wished to raise a family. After leaving school, Reg worked at various jobs, but was most happy in his over 30- year career at Bristol Aerospace. He very much enjoyed his fellow workers, most of whom are still friends today. Reg enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-a cup of coffee with friends, gardening, cutting grass, patrolling his property in his golf cart, sitting on the deck enjoying nature, and watching his grandchildren play in the swimming pool. Reg leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his wife Joan, his daughter Kelley, of whom he was so very proud, her husband Frederic Guimont, and his much loved and adored grandchildren Benjamin and Meredith. Missing him also is his brother Glenn and his wife Jean, special nephew Gordon and wife Darlene and their family, as well as niece Tammy and her husband Brent Turchyn and their family. Also missing Uncle Reg are nephew Warner Main, Shelley and Glenn Schultz, Sean Feldsted, Ian and Ellen Feldsted, Erin Main, and Corey and Danny Wilson and families. Reg will also be missed by his mother-in-law Lorna Wilson, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Brenda Wilson, and brother-in -law John Feldsted. Reg was predeceased by his parents Bob and Marj Main, father-in-law John Wilson, brother-in-law Tom Wilson, brother Sid and sister Madge, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. As per Reg’s wishes, a private family interment will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to his favorite coffee shop-the Balmoral Recreation Centre. Look for Me- I Am There In the rustling of the trees As there wafts a gentle breeze And the flowers brightly bloom Look for me- I am There In the gentle springtime rain And the robins’ sweet refrain, As the rabbits scamper round Look for Me- I Am There As the snowflakes softly fall And the geese so bravely call The scent of woodsmoke draws us in Look for Me- I Am There                        Love Joan

John Chobotar

March 17, 1935 – December 28, 2018 Suddenly, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer, John Chobotar, 83, of Teulon, MB passed away peacefully at the Gimli Hospital shortly after a visit from family. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years Carole [Eliuk], his 3 sons – Al [Anne], Kenny [Teresa] and Kevin; grandchildren – Alexandra, Danielle [Jared], Mikal and Erik; brothers – Martin [Nell], Walter [Fran], Bill [Janet]; sister-in-law Darlene and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. John was pre-deceased by his parents Mike and Dora, brother Alec and sister Mary [Paul]. Born in Sirko Manitoba in 1935, John grew up on the family farm where he developed his love for cattle and making hay, which would never leave him. He also met Carole, the love of his life, there. They were married at the St. Elias Church on July 21, 1962. He began to pursue his teaching career at age 17 which led him to more than 24 schools throughout Manitoba and North Western Ontario. He finished his career in Teulon, retiring in 1995. His unique teaching style has had a continuing impact on many students and parents alike as shown by the outpouring of support from those who will never forget how “Mr. Chobotar” helped them along the way. John was never one to sit still. His favorite activities included listening to and playing music [polkas], being a Cantor at Church [“Vichnaya Pam’yat”], a member of the Kinsmen, helping farmers, socializing at auction sales, playing VLTs, and just cruising around the countryside. John had a love for sports. He excelled as both player and coach. He was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008 as a member of the Vita Cubs. He also coached teams to League and Provincial Titles. His biggest passion, however, was spectating. Whether it was his sons, his grandchildren or even a local sports team, his voice was always heard through arenas and ball parks, trying to motivate players to do their best. Sometimes he could even be heard at home yelling at his Maple Leafs while watching Hockey Night In Canada. As per John’s request, cremation has taken place and no service will be held at this time. The family is planning a Celebration of Life in early summer 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Teulon Health Care Foundation Inc.
