Calvin Brent Surgenor

Calvin Brent Surgenor

Passed on December 16, 2023

May 3, 1957 to December 16, 2023    Peacefully, after a courageous battle with kidney cancer, Cal passed away with Cheryl by his side.

He is survived by his loving wife Cheryl, daughters Carly (Tyler) and Corie Ann (Chris); grandkids, McKenzie, Matthew, Norman John, Crishona and Ainsley; brothers Randy (Debbie), Dwight (Donna), Jayson (Dawn); sisters Karen, Elaine (George) and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is predeceased by his parents Dave and Olga Surgenor, brother Ryan and sister Marilyn.

Cal was the 6th of 8 children born to Dave and Olga in Eriksdale, Manitoba. Dad met mom, the love of his life, in grade 3 at Eriksdale Elementary and they would eventually marry on a very hot day in July 1981.

From an early age, Olga instilled a love for music in all her kids which dad carried throughout his life. He loved to sing and played the accordion, guitar, piano and harmonica. Dad passed his love for all things music on to his girls.

Cal’s two favourite pastimes were curling and golfing which helped him meet so many people over the years.

His family was everything to him and he was so happy to have formed an extra special bond with his sweet Ainsley.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Stonewall Legion on Thursday, December 21 at 11am with a luncheon to follow. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South West District Palliative Care in Stonewall, MB.

Thank you to Dr. Piotr Czaykowski and Nurse Sean at CancerCare and thank you to the entire palliative care team out of Stonewall Hospital that cared for Dad, you are amazing people. Special thanks to Dr. Kerr Graham – you truly are an exceptional Care Giver and human being and Dad cherished your relationship throughout all of the years you have known each other.

Dad, we are so lucky to have had your love and guidance in our lives – we will always carry your memory in our hearts. In the sweet words of his precious Ainsley, I love you forever Papa.
