Richard (Rick) Allan Glucki

With deep love and profound sadness, I must announce the passing of my husband, Richard (Rick) Allan Glucki, who passed away at home peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of Monday, November 6, 2023, at the age of 64 years.

Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife, Lori (29.5 years), his beloved twin daughters, Larisa Wahoski (partner Craig Gunter) and Melissa Morden (husband Jeff Morden), much loved grandchildren, Ella, Zavery, Taylor, Kaelyn, and twins Casey & Julian; his beloved parents, Ted & Shirley Glucki; brother Doug Glucki (wife Karen, Liam & Quinn); sister Sheryl Marchand (husband Adrian, Aidan & Shaye); special cousin Tammy Glucki (wife Jackie & family); sister-in-law Cyndi Appleyard (husband Wayne, Bryan & Myles); brother-in-law Bill Maddock (partner Nadine); brother-in-law Dennis Pirie (Chad, Chance) and many Aunts, Uncles & cousins.

Predeceased by mother-in-law Doreen Maddock; sister-in-law Lynn Pirie; Uncle Raymond Gluchi; Aunt Grace Roy; and Uncle Jim Buckle.

Rick was born in 1959 in Winnipeg MB and spent most of his youth and early adulthood at the family farm near Balmoral MB. He was a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for the Province of Manitoba Highways Department for 36 years where he made many lifelong friends. Rick enjoyed fixing and/or reading about antique tractors, as well as collecting toy antique tractors.

Rick was available to any person needing help fixing vehicles and always lending a hand in any way.

Rick got immense enjoyment out of spoiling his 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren. Rick always had an endless supply of kinder surprises and rides to the slurpee store. “Grandpa” would drop whatever he was doing to put a smile on his grandkids’ faces. Larisa, Melissa, and his grandchildren will always treasure the fond memories and many traditions Dad/Grandpa had with them, especially around the holiday seasons. There wasn’t a Christmas season without Dad’s childhood antique train set around the tree.

One of my favorite past times with my husband were many summers spent at the Narrows napping on the boat as the fish “wouldn’t bite”. Rick also cherished and spoiled his dogs Molly, Winston, and Rudy.

There will forever be a huge hole in our hearts, and Rick/Dad/Grandpa will be deeply missed by us all.

At Rick’s request, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be laid to rest at the Balmoral United Church Cemetery at a later date.

Due to Rick’s Type 2 Diabetes, resulting in numerous ailments, I would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, hospital staff, paramedics, and emergency personnel who provided excellent care for Rick over the past 7 years.

I would also like to thank Ken Loehmer of Ken Loehmer Funeral Services for going above and beyond.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Diabetic Association of Canada at Diabetes.ca
