Doug Freeman

Doug Freeman

Passed on January 13, 2024

Sadly, on January 13, 2024  Doug Freeman succumbed to his illness.

He leaves to mourn wife Sharon, Daughter Amy (Michael), and other children Angie and Shane, sisters Deb (Detlef), Helen and Bobbie, brothers George (Laurie) and Reg, and many nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by parents Robert and Sylvia, sisters Julie and Karen and brothers Bill and Chuck.

Doug had many jobs throughout his life. His longest served at Black Cat Blades (Amsco Cast Products) where he retired after 41 years of service.

Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, billiards, darts and getting together with his numerous friends and family. Doug was a huge football fan (New England Patriots – before, during and after the Belichuk/Brady dynasty) and loved watching and attending the Winnipeg Blue Bomber games.

Thank you to Dr. Graham (Doug enjoyed your visits and the laughs), the kind and compassionate staff at the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital, Lisa, Vera and all of the great friends and family who have surrounded us with love and made his last days more bearable. We appreciate the outpouring of love, food and support from all of our friends and family during this difficult time.

Per Doug’s wishes, there will be no formal service held. The family will have a private internment in the future. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cancer Care.

My deepest sympathy for the family of Doug's. I had the privilege of working with Doug for 18 yrs at Amsco Cast Products. One great crane operator was always careful with and concerned about 'the man on the ground'. Rip Doug.

Douglas was my oldest best friend. We knew each other for 65 years. Grew up together. Always ready to give a helping hand. A very generous person. He wasn’t a judgemental guy. We will miss his wry sense of humour and our daily conversations. Always in our thoughts buddy. ❤️I will miss my Wordle buddy. Safe journey Douglas

Living abroad, it's been some years since I had the opportunity to enjoy Doug's company. He was always happy and always so welcoming. One of those guys who, I must say, had a big impact on my life. May he rest in the same peace he always lived in. Farewell my friend. Until we meet again.
