Elizabeth Richardson

Passed on August 31, 2019

MARCH 1, 1936 – AUGUST 31, 2019 Elizabeth (Betty/Liz) Richardson passed away at Grace Hospice on Saturday, August 31, 2019 with loved ones by her side. Her passing is especially mourned by son-in-law Terry Wedge (Marilyn Hudson), grandsons Greg Sarvis (Alicia Martel, great – granddaughters Alayna and Jordyn) and Darren Wedge (Brianne, great – grandsons Kasen and Keaton), brother John Vertz as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Waiting to reunite with Betty will be her husband, Don Richardson, children Debbie and Allen Richardson, Carren Wedge parents Martin and Mary and siblings Dennis, Martin Jr., Anne, Eddie and George. Betty was born in Glenboro on March 1, 1936 and lived on the farm with her parents and siblings until marrying her husband Don in 1957. Betty and Don worked and lived in several places before discovering the Charleswood area. Betty, Don and Debbie moved together for the last time to Granada Avenue and after Deb’s passing Betty moved to the Eastern Star Chalet. Betty loved her family, was always ready to lend a willing hand with whatever they were involved in starting with pony club when the children were little and then at Assiniboia Downs racetrack. During the race season there were always people from far away who could count on a good meal, lodging or board for their horses when needed – Betty made sure everything at the farm was looked after while the girls were working at the track and Don was a jockey agent. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Grace Hospice for their caring, compassion and devotion during Betty’s final days. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cancer Care Manitoba, the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held later.
