Fredrick James Taplin

Fredrick James Taplin

Passed on

December 16, 1930 – September 17, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of
Fred/Dad/Pa surrounded by his family at the Selkirk Regional
Health Centre on September 17th, 2024 at the age of 93.
Fred was born on the family farm at Argyle the 4th of 6 boys to
Cerce and Eva Taplin. He attended school at Grassmere and
Brant Argyle.
Fred and Elaine (Mack) were married on September 27th, 1958.
They moved to their farm ½ mile east of where Dad was born and
raised. He is survived by his beloved wife Elaine, daughters
Brenda(Brad Joel), Karen (Loren Thevenot), Cathy (Bill Smith),
son Wes, Grandchildren, Trevor (Kim), Leah (Mark), Jennifer
(Ryan), Lisa (Clint), and 9 great grandchildren, Ricky, Hunter,
Danica, Hannah, Jaxon, Rylee, Iver, Parker Lynn, and Greyson.
Also survived by brother Ken (Sharon), sisters in law Shirley,
Muriel, Audrey, brother in law Frank, and numerous nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers
Orval, Ray (Elza),Don, and Lloyd.
Dad owned and operated Argyle Transfer hauling livestock for 35
years. He was also a grain and cattle producer and continued to
farm after he retired from the Transfer business. Dad was a quiet
easy going man who was the best listener, his sage advice was
always spot on. He loved animals, especially horses. He enjoyed
giving sleigh or wagon rides to anyone who was interested. His
gentle, quiet nature served him well when working with any
animal. Dad took pleasure being a member of the Rockwood
Antique Club in retirement going to parades with his self restored
John Deere tractors. He was happy to transport as many of his
tractors as there were family members wanting to drive them. Dad
liked to hunt and had good friends who took him hunting turkey,
and geese.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Selkirk Mental Health Centre Unit 4
for the wonderful care given to Dad and our family during his time
there, and the staff of the Selkirk Regional Health Centre
Emergency department and Medicine Unit 2 for the excellent care
and compassion shown to Dad and our family in his last hours.

Fred was so kind and understanding. His love for horses was shown many times when we took the horses around the property. Rest in peace Fred Graham and Sylvia.
