James (Jim) Michael Hardy
Obituary
Passed on
November 1, 1962 – June 25, 2026
With deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of James Micheal Hardy, or Jim, as he was known to most people. Jim passed away, surrounded by family at St. Boniface Hospital. Jim also successfully battled cancer for fifteen years.
Jim is survived by his spouse Kathleen (Kate); children Alex (Kaitlyn) and Brent (Alycia); grandchildren Arria, Landen, Kayden, and Olivia; siblings Ken (Rhonda), Karen VanBurren (Dick), and Susan (Doug); sisters in-law Eleanor Cassels and Daphne Harris; and birth mother Marie Bauldic. He is predeceased by his parents Alex and Mary-Lou, parents-in-law James and Audrey Cassels, sister in-law Rita Swan (John), and brother in-law Gord Harris.
Jim grew up on a family farm near Hartney, Manitoba and had a lifelong passion for agriculture. He studied agriculture at the University of Manitoba and spent most of his professional life as an agronomist. He married Kate on April 23, 1988 after many years of friendship and a short courtship. They welcomed their children Alex and Brent in 1990 and 1991. The family made their home in Oakville, Manitoba until a move to Teulon, Manitoba in 1997 where Jim and Kate have lived since. Jim was a strong community member and volunteered broadly. He enjoyed curling, fishing, being outdoors, barbequing, and spending time with his dog Dixie.
A community Memorial Mass will be held Monday, July 6, 2026 at 11:00 at Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre, Teulon, Manitoba, followed by fellowship and private internment.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or the Teulon Curling Club.
Jim’s family would like to thank the critical care staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Selkirk Regional Health Centre and Interlake-Eastern paramedic staff for their dedication and professionalism. They would also like to thank Ken Loehmer his care and support in preparing for Jim’s memorial.
