Joanne Margaret (Webber) Kon

Passed on

With heavy hearts we announce that on July 30th, 2026, Joanne Margaret (Webber) Kon passed away in Percy E. Moore Hospital, after her long and hard-fought battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Joanne is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Alan, their child David, her mother, Janet, and siblings, Merrilee (Shane) and Daniel (Sharon). Joanne was predeceased by her father Terrence. Respecting Joanne’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

As a devoted teacher, Joanne taught throughout numerous schools in Lakeshore School Division, as well as starting her career in Peguis First Nation, and finishing at Broad Valley Colony School. Joanne also served as the President of the Lakeshore Teachers Association for many years.

Joanne had a love of crafting, always creating projects whether it was woodworking, painting, knitting, or crocheting. She would spend numerous hours creating beautiful pieces of art, often giving her creations to family, friends, or any person in need.

Even after moving to Manitoba, Joanne enjoyed frequent trips back home to Nova Scotia to spend time with family and friends. She also was able to experience trips to multiple countries in the Caribbean & Europe.

Joanne also had a love for music, participating in the Fisher Branch Songbirds choir, and as a skilled pianist she would play the organ at her church of chosen faith, St. Philip’s Anglican Church in Hodgson.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital, CancerCare Manitoba, Percy E. Moore Hospital and the Home Care workers from IERHA for their excellent care throughout Joanne’s medical journey and into her last days. We would also like to thank the Broad Valley Colony for their generosity and hospitality shown to Joanne and her family.

A celebration of life service took place at 1:30 pm on Saturday, August 8th, 2026 at the Ukrainian National Hall in Fisher Branch.
