Lorraine Medwid

Passed on July 15, 2022

August 23, 1935 – July 15, 2022      It is with the heaviest hearts the family announces the passing of our dear Mother and Baba at the age of 86.

Mom was born in Lockport, MB, the youngest daughter to Harry and Anne Panaschuk and grew up in Oak Hammock area eventually moving to Argyle in 1952 to the farm where her and dad resided until her hospitalization in January 2019.

Mom spent her childhood on the family farm. She met the love of her life, Steve Medwid marrying the following year in 1952. Mom & dad raised five children, evolving into a large family with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was a determined, hard working farm wife who loved to cook and preserve for her family and make sure her kids knew how to do these things before leaving home. She could create a fabulous meal out of anything. And create her own recipes. Her family was her life, she would always have food for us and send something home with us after we had our visit or when her and dad came to visit. Mom especially enjoyed spending time with her family, watching them grow. Mom loved babies, she got so much joy from them from little and as they grew up.

Mom was predeceased by her husband of nearly 67 years, Steve, her parents, Harry and Anne Panaschuk, sisters Joan Kazuk, Marion Smoley, and Mabel Gregg.

Left to mourn Mom are her sons Richard (Lucy), John (Debbie), George, daughters Steph (Mel) Olson, Joanne (Trevor) Sinclair, grandchildren Laura (Will), Jeff (Chantelle) & Lincoln; Jessica (Corey), Sawyer & Kaylee, Jackie (Ray); Lindsay, Ashley; Myki (Jon), Mason & McKinley, Melissa, Mahlani, Megan (Gerald) Logan & Lynley; Jenelle (Matt) Landon & Brody; T.J. (Karlie) Kaiden, Brooklynn, Raelynn & Raena; sister Kay Harman & brother Harry (Heather) Panaschuk and families, and sisters-in-law, Margaret(Russell) Beirnes, Jean Medwid and Margaret Medwid as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

As per mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Graham, and the nursing staff and health care aides and staff at Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall, where Mom resided for the past 2.5 years of her life, and Ken Loehmer.

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in Mom’s memory. Rest in Peace, Mom and Baba. Love and miss you forever.
