MARGARET HEPPELLE

MARGARET HEPPELLE

Passed on February 20, 2019

1921 -2019     Grace Evelyn “Margaret” Heppelle (née Norlen) passed away peacefully at the Deer Lodge Center in Winnipeg, MB, on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, just a few months before her 98th birthday. All her life, and even at the end of it, she believed that God would ask of her nothing she couldn’t handle with His help. So, we say goodbye and thank you to a gentle soul, a kind and loving woman for whom family and friends meant the world. Born on June 12, 1921, Margaret was the daughter and fifth of eleven children of Swedish immigrants, Richard Nils Norlen and Gerda Amelia Karlsson. Born and raised in Kenora, her early years were spent on the family farm on the Anderson Road and later in Rideout where her Dad owned and ran a box factory. In 1941, she married Wilbrod “Brod” Heppelle (1917-1982), the love of her life, and, together, they raised their children. Widowed at age 60, she learned to drive, take over household finances, maintain her own house, drive her outboard to the summer cottage, dote on grandchildren and even become an independent traveler. She was 89 before she decided upon a quieter life in a retirement home in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Wilbrod, her sister Elvera Longe, her brothers Gerald, Carl, Henry, Roy, Clarence, Ronald and Robert, and by her eldest son Raymond. She leaves to regret her passing her surviving sons Paul (Linda Lang) and his children Claude, Réal and Ginette; Denys and his son Jayden; Robert (Miriam) and their children Joseph, Christina, Jessica, Theresa, Cecilia, Nicholas, Rebecca and Roberta; Brian (Melanie); her daughters Judy (Jose Araujo) and Sandra Cooke (Allan) and their children Serena, Elizabeth, Cassandra and Matthew; Raymond’s son David; her sisters Shirley Quinton and Geraldine Borton. Also to mourn her passing are eighteen great grand-children, many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends. Cremation has taken place. KEN LOEHMER Funeral Services in charge of arrangements. Funeral and commemoration of Margaret’s life will take place this summer in Kenora. Instead of flowers, donations can be made to the SALVATION ARMY in your community.

I owe Paul sincere gratification in the support he offered to the Turgeon’s family at the passing of my Mom and Dad. He did the eulogy for my mom.
