October 31, 1944 – July 19, 2024      It is with great sadness that we announce on Friday, July 19, 2024, our beloved Uncle Peter passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, at the age of 79.

He will be greatly missed and loved by his great-nephew Darrin Husak and great-niece April (Aaron) Judd; nephews Gord (Debbie) Husak, Stan (Ada) Husak, Curtis Husak, Bob (Pat) Husak; nieces Annette (Gary) Dillabough and Janette (Dan Lazure) Loney; sister-in-law Joy Husak, as well as numerous other great-nephews/nieces, and friends.

Uncle Peter was born on October 31, 1944. He grew up in Gordon, Manitoba and remained at the family homestead throughout his life. Uncle Peter worked as an equipment operator for a number of years.

Uncle Peter was preceded in death by his parents John and Tekla Husak, sister Ann and brother-in-law Charlie Butterfield, brother Mike and sister-in-law Joyce Husak, brother Walter Husak, brother Fred Husak, niece Maureen Husak and nephew Michael Husak.

Everyone who knew Uncle Peter knew how much he loved building airplanes and flying, as well as spending time in his shop. He loved hunting, puttering around the yard, and planting a stellar garden each year. Uncle Peter loved going to the Oshkosh Airshow in Wisconsin.

Uncle Peter was a dedicated, hardworking individual who would put the needs of others ahead of his own. We could not have asked for a better Uncle, and will miss him everyday. Uncle Peter’s memory will live on in the hearts of all of those who loved him.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Stonewall Hospital staff for their kindness, support and care shown to Uncle Peter during his brief stay. Special thanks also goes to out to Dr. Hicks, Rhonda (RN), Kara and Meredith for their compassionate support and care with Uncle Peter and the family. The family wants to thank Ken Loehmer for his professional services during this difficult time.

No memorial service or funeral is being planned. If family or friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada or CancerCare Manitoba.

Sorry to hear of Peter's passing. He was a friendly neighbor and a friend of my Dad's. Our sympathy goes out to all of his family. We will miss hearing his plane take off.
