Phyllis Rossnagel

Phyllis Rossnagel

Passed on July 13, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, nana and great-nana, Phyllis Rossnagel. Born on July 14, 1935 to Harry and Hazel Maurage, Mom was a single child. She was raised, for the most part, in Stony Mountain where she met and married the love of her life, Ernie, in 1955. They raised their family on the farm. Two sons Roy (Heidi), Barry (Michelle) and daughter Linda (Wayne). Mom adored her grandchildren Crystal (Tim), Tyler, Travis (Stephanie), Michael and Hannah. Her great-grandchildren were the light in her eye and Mom enjoyed going to their birthday parties; Quinn, Emma, Owen, Caleb and Abby. Mom was predeceased by her husband as well as many sisters and brothers-in-law. Mom was a wonderful mother and loving nana and great-grandma. Her family was everything to her and she enjoyed hosting holiday dinners until it became too much for her. She was one of those farm wives who had gainful employment off the farm and was employed at Stony Mountain Institution for many years. She made many great friends there over the years and enjoyed her job until her retirement. Because of her employment, Mom was able to provide extra things for her children, like braces and weekend beach trips, which is an example of the caring mother she was. When Mom became ill she moved to Lake Manitoba Narrows to live with her daughter Linda and her husband Wayne. She settled in quite quickly and enjoyed being taken care of and found the family pets Isabel, Toby and Sadie very entertaining. Mom had a huge love for dogs and her friends were very aware of that by all the cards they sent wishing her well, almost all had dogs on the front which she got such a kick out of. Thank you to everyone who phoned Mom on a regular basis to check in on her. She appreciated it more than you know. Thank you to Mona Denton for your prayers and encouraging words during Mom’s illness. Thank you to staff at Selkirk Hospital, Stonewall Hospital and Ashern Hospital for the very good care provided to Mom. Donations can be made to the Stony Mountain United Church, if so desired. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 20th at 1:30 pm at Stony Mountain Cemetery for family and close friends.
