Thomas Bowman

Passed on June 13, 2022

Born October 17, 1933 on the family farm in Greenwood Tom passed peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2022 surrounded by his family. He proudly lived his life on his family homestead and shared his joy and love of the farm with his wife and family.

Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years Barbara; daughters Karen and Beverley, son in law Kevin and grandsons Tyler and Carter (Hailey). Brother Stewart (June), sister Lynn (Bill), sister-in-law Joan, brother-in-law Hugh (Karen), sister-In-law Eleanor and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by parents Hugh & Eleanor, Arnett & Mary, sister Elaine, brothers Lavere & Gary, brothers-in-law Jim, Coke & Keith and honorary brother Henry.

Tom had many great friends throughout years, many good times were had over a drink or two. He worked hard and played hard. While farming, Tom worked off farm for many years. After retiring from Manitoba Hydro, the cattle herd was increased to 100 head, something of which he was very proud. Although the number of cattle decreased over the years, we still have a small herd which allowed him to teach the next generations how to be cattle farmers.

Tom loved to go for a drive with Mrs. whether checking cows in the pasture, or just to see what was happening in the neighbourhood. Tom watched the road on Friday nights for Karen to come home for the weekend. He loved to have his family by his side whether we were working or not. Saturday supper with Bev & Kevin and the boys was a staple. Tom was a family man and a proud Grandpa. He was the happiest when we were together; he was part of everything and always willing to lend a hand. Every time we would leave the yard he would say goodbye with a wave and a thank you. Thank You Dad, thank you, thank you!

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 20th 2:00 p.m. at the Gunton-Greenwood Memorial Hall with lunch to follow. A family graveside interment will take place.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
