Yvonne Alice Cruise (nee Bale)

Passed on January 25, 2024

Surrounded by love, Yvonne Alice Cruise (née Bale) peacefully passed away on January 25, 2024.

Yvonne is survived by her husband, Jack, of 49 years, her children Shawn (Nicole), Dennis (Cindy), and Kelly (Jack), as well as her six beloved grandchildren: Abigail, William, Joseph, Grayson, Channing, and Logan. She is also survived by her and Jack’s numerous siblings and their families.

Yvonne’s sister, Louise Jones, sister-in-law, Sharon Cruise, daughter-in-law, Nicole Merrick, and niece, Erin Skrabyk, were dearly loved by Yvonne. We are forever grateful to them for their unwavering love and constant support shown to Yvonne throughout the years.

Born on July 3, 1953, to Ernest and Angelique Bale in the town of Fisher Branch, Yvonne was the second oldest of nine children. From her younger years, she fondly recalled trips to Winnipeg with her grandfather, engaging in shenanigans with her siblings, and her mother yelling to her father: “Ernest, put your foot down!”

In May 1974, Yvonne married Jack and moved to the farm in Chatfield, where she devoted herself as a wife and mother. Her training as a hairdresser came in handy on the farm, with a constant stream of kids and cousins in need of a trim. Yvonne tolerated cooking, loved gardening and flowers, was an avid bird watcher, and had a passion for healthy living. She could always be found on the road to 4-H, at the rink during her sons Shawn and Dennis’ hockey years, and supporting her daughter Kelly in her favorite activities. Her six grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she was always there to listen to the goings-on in life and at school, being the first to provide advice and encouragement.

In her later years, Yvonne resided at Goodwin Lodge and actively participated in various activities. A fun partner in crime, she was always ready for a shopping trip, dinner, a movie, or a game of Bingo.

While Yvonne had a critical illness for much of her life, it never defined her, and she lived her life with gratitude and grace, focusing on peace and positivity. Yvonne embraced life with laughter, never dwelling on the negative or challenges that came her way. She harbored no judgment, exuding kindness to everyone around her, always quick to share a smile or have a laugh. Yvonne loved music and was always humming a tune whenever and wherever music was found. She was unique, and it was impossible not to love her.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Goodwin Lodge, the nursing staff, and Dr. Loudon for their exceptional friendship and care during Yvonne’s time there.

She will be profoundly missed.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch, MB. Lunch will follow at Chatfield Community Hall.
