February 28, 1930 – November 26, 2023 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Iris Wedge of Stonewall, and formerly of Lilyfield, MB on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the Selkirk and District Health Centre.
Iris is survived by her children Les, Linda, Darlene and Terry (Marilyn); her grandchildren Jeannie, Darren (Brianne) and Kevin (Lacey), as well as her great-grandchildren Kasen, Jackson and Keaton. Iris also leaves behind her sister Joan (Lloyd) Lillebo and several nephews. Iris was blessed to have a large circle of friends.
Iris was predeceased by her husband Les Wedge, her sister, Evelyn Buchanan and her granddaughter, Melanie Wedge.
Iris was born on February 28, 1930 to Sten and Catherine (Kay) Peterson. Iris married Les on July 10, 1948. Together they raised four children and formed a loving family circle that sustained Iris throughout her life. Iris embraced farm life on their century farm. Assiniboine Race Track was like a second home where she cared for horses and established a daycare.
Iris was a faithful member of Lilyfield United Church and a Life Member of the United Church Women. She formed many lasting friendships at church and in the UCW.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Selkirk and District Health Centre for their kindness and the compassionate care they extended to Iris.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
A Service of Remembrance and a reception will be held on Sunday, December 10 at 12:30 pm at the Red Barn, Road 75 North and Provincial Road #236, south of Stonewall.
