Pauline Frances Cameron

June 3, 1931 – October 24, 2019               It is with sadness that we must announce the passing of a remarkable woman. Born in Tebay, England to Scottish parents, Mom was extremely proud of her Scottish heritage and recounted tales of her travels to the Highlands with her father. As a family we were lucky to travel with Mom to Scotland and England. Mom took her nursing training at Westminster Hospital, London, England & then 2-part Midwifery in Edinburgh Scotland. Nursing opened many doors taking her to various Canadian provinces, Southern Sudan with CUSO, remote Northern communities & the Arctic. In retirement, Mom was an avid quilter and we’re all so lucky to have quilts made by her. Pauline is survived by her daughters Frances Frederickson (Bob) and Farida Barber. Grandchildren Kris Frederickson (Sara), Ainsley Scibak(Charlie) and Tara Peaker. Greatgrandchildren, Nora, Henry, Scarlett Frederickson & baby Scibak. Mom is also survived by many relatives in Scotland and England. The family would like to thank Palliative Care, Home Care, Amanda Hopps NP extraordinaire, Sue Pearn & George Borrett who all helped allow Mom to pass away at home. Mom’s wish was to make a final journey to Scotland where a celebration of her life will be held next summer. Mom believed no one should be homeless. Donations can be made to the Main Street Project, 75 Martha St., Winnipeg.

Doreen MacNaughton

(Thornton, Carry) Surrounded by family in a room full of love, Doreen passed peacefully on September 21, 2019. She will be deeply missed by the love of her life, Bob, children: Karen (Mike), Daryl (Diana) and Darcy (Paul), grandchildren: Wren (Keragh), Michelle (Jay), Christopher, Corey, Dayner (Inga) and Jazlee. Also missing her deeply are her great grandchildren: James, Sean and Bella, brother Jim (Lorraine), sister Shirley, sister–in-law Gay, cousin Diane and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was such an important part in the lives of so many. Mom worked hard all her life in the restaurant industry while raising her 3 children. In 1993, she and Bob bought the hotel in Inwood, Manitoba opening up a whole new chapter in their lives. It seems that everyone in the Interlake knew and loved her. Our mom was an amazing woman, kind, generous, thoughtful, loving, vibrant, energetic, fun loving and the life of any party but the thing she was best at was being a mom, grandma and great grandma. Mom and Bob always wanted their family around and the grand and great grandchildren thought of Gramma and Papa’s house as their second home. We all have the most wonderful memories of her. Mom taught us to be strong and we will be during this most difficult of times. We have lost such a wonderful woman and heaven has gained such a beautiful angel. As per her wishes, there will be no formal funeral, just a small family gathering at a later date. Thank you to everyone for all the love and laughter you have given and shared with our mom throughout the years We love you Mom/Doreen and will hold you in our hearts forever.

Mom and Dad were married on September 13, 1980. After living in Stony Mountain for 10 years they settled in Balmoral at their current residence in October of 1990. This is where we were raised and now where her 4 grandchildren will continue to make more memories and be constantly be reminded of their Grandma. Mom spent our early years being a stay-at-home mom and then started working at Ducks Unlimited Canada where she worked for 20 years and made many lifelong friends. She was very involved and very proud to be on the Harlequins and multiple other fundraising committees for Ducks. Mom shared her love of curling, line dancing, and country music with us. We spent many a morning dancing around the living room with her. As we grew older, our friends started calling her Mom or Mama Baker and she always made sure there was extra food at the table just in case someone dropped in. She frequently referred to our friends as her other children and was proud of all of them. Mom was also very proud of all of her nieces and nephews and was so close to them that even their friends also called her Auntie Lorna. We would like to send a huge thank you to Roberta’s Medicine Family and Dr. Alexander at the SRHC who went above and beyond and took such amazing care of her in her final week. Also to Dr. Loudon, Marcia at CancerNav, and to everyone who has helped with the grandkids, our dogs and helped keep Mom’s life as comfortable and positive as possible.
